"Sanga" a patriotic Sri Lankan; who is celebrated across the Island being conferred with an honor at Colombo Kamban Vizha 2020

After witnessing massive bursts of applause intermittently while announcer recites the achievements and accolades of the all-time great Kumar Sangakkara in an event which is dedicated to celebrate Tamil literature, I paused and reflected does Sanga really deserve all these honors and applause?

Mind you, the crowd is not only comprise of cricket fanatic, I would say only fourth of an audience would have followed Sanga closely as a cricketer, the rest probably may have heard about him only for his off field deeds. He is a well-known personality among minorities not only for his cricketing styles, but also for his sensational speeches, and activities towards uniting people of Sri Lanka. Though his vision is yet to be achieved fully, he managed to garner a special spot in almost every Tamil speaking people's heart, hence the roar of applause he got, I realized he is worth every bit of it.

The magic happened when the highlights of his MCC cowdery lecture being played in the auditorium, I hope all would agree this as his top notch speech among all the wonderful speeches he has delivered on and off the fields across the world to-date. After the historical lines of "I am Tamil, I'm Sinhalese, I'm Muslim and Burgher,  I'm a Buddhist, I'm a Hindu, a follower of Islam and Christianity, but above all, today and always I will be, proudly, Sri Lankan", the entire auditorium stood and given a well-deserved standing ovation to this wonderful, Kumar Sangakkara.

As he mentions in that MCC lecture, as well as way back in his Cricinfo interview, he and his family has always lived in harmony with their minority neighbors, and he made lot of friends from those communities, that says a lot about his greater involvement with the other communities. Personally, for me, he is seen as a good human being and a true Sri Lankan, above all his cricketing achievements, when he said that their family had given shelter for Tamils during a brutal attack unleashed on them in July'1983, widely dubbed as “black July”.

I strongly believe, the sense of belongings would be at peak when, and only when people are being involved. Hence, Sanga, in my humble opinion, is the only Sri Lankan celebrity who has been involved in the pains of minority communities, and could really be a healer of our past wounds, and act as a bridging person between the communities.

I also wanted Sanga to be a Sri Lankan Justin Trudeau, Emanual Macron and the male version of Sanna Marin. But I then realized if he plunges into the politics he will inevitably being portrait as a traitor by our main stream media, and the real politicians would get better at him for his greater involvement in the bridging activities. Hence, now I sincerely don’t want him to enter the politics but wish he continues to involve his life in bridging the Sri Lankan people, and I strongly believe this island will one day be truly united not by force but by love and affection.

கர்ணன் செயல் மீது என் கேள்விக்கணை

தர்க்கம் அறிமுகம்  

மகாபாரதத்தில் கர்ணனின் பாத்திரம் அவன் கொண்ட நிலை கருதி உயர்வாக கருதப்படுகிறது, ஆனால் எனக்கொரு மாற்றுக் கருத்துண்டு.

கர்ணன் கொடை வள்ளல், தர்மவழி நின்றவன், செஞ்சோற்று கடன் தீர்த்தவன் என்பதெல்லாம் சரியானதே. எனினும் எச்சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் கர்ணன், கொளரவர் பக்கம் சென்றான் என்று பார்த்தால், அவன் தன் சுயநலம் காக்கவே அடைக்கலம் கொண்டானென நான் நினைக்கிறேன்.

கர்ணனும், துரியோதணும் அறிமுகமாகும் காட்சி;

துரோணரின் குருகுல வாசம் முடித்த பாண்டவரும், துரியோதநாதியரும் தம் ஆற்றலை அரசன் முன்னும், மக்கள் முன்னரும் காட்டுவதட்காக ஏட்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த அரங்கில் வருகிறார்கள், துரியோதனன் வழமை போல சகுனி மாமனுடன் கூட்டணி கொண்டு தருமன் மற்றும் பீமனை தோல்விகொள்ளச்செய்கின்றான், இப்போது அர்சுனன் அரங்கிட்கு நுழையும் தருணம், வாயிலிலிருக்கும் கல்லாலான சிலையொன்றினை துரோணரின் மகன் அஷுவத்தாமன் அம்பொன்றின் மூலம் அருச்சுனன் மீது விழ வைக்கின்றான், எதிர்பார்த்தது போலவே தன் வில்லாற்றலால் அவற்றை மீண்டெழுந்து அருச்சுனன் துரியோதனனை நோக்கி வருகின்றான். வந்தவன் துரியோதனனை நிலைகுலையவும் செய்கின்றான். அப்பொழுதான் கர்ணன் துரியோதனனை விடுவித்துக் கொண்டு அரங்கிற்குள் முதன்முறையாக பிரவேசிக்கின்றான், காட்சி இத்துடன் நிற்க;

இங்கு கர்ணனின் நிலை பற்றியும் பார்த்துவிடுவோம்; 

சிறுவயதில் வில்லாற்றல் கற்றுக்கொள்ள துரோணரிடம் சென்ற கர்ணன் அரச குலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவன் இல்லையென்ற காரணத்தினால் அவரால் திருப்பி அனுப்பப்பட்டான், நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டவன் துரோணரின் குருவான பரசுராமரிடமே செல்கிறான், பரசுராமர் அரச குலத்தவர்களை தவிர்ந்த அனைவருக்கும் வில்லாற்றல் விளக்கிக்கொடுப்பவர், எனவே அவரும் கர்ணனுக்கு அனைத்து வித்தையினையும் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கிறார், அன்றிலிருந்து கர்ணன் கர்வம் கொள்கிறான், தாம் தான் சிறந்த வில் வித்தைக்காரன், தன்னை வெல்ல தரணியில் யாருமில்லையென்று என்ணினின்றான், அருச்சுனனின் ஆற்றலைப் பற்றி அறியவந்தவன் அவன் துரோணரின் சீடன் என்றரிந்ததும் மேலும் குரோதம் கொள்கிறான், அர்ச்சுனன் மேல் மட்டுமன்றி துரோணரும் அவன் இலக்காகின்றார், இது இவ்வாறிருக்கத்தான் கர்ணன் அஸ்தினாபுர இளவரசர்களின் போட்டிக்கு வருகின்றான், இதிலொன்று தெளிவாகத் தெரிகின்றது கர்ணன் தன்னை சிறந்த வீரனாக நிரூபிக்கும் நோக்குடன் சுயநலம் கொண்டான். 

மீண்டும் காட்சி தொடர்கிறது;

அரங்குக்குள் நுழையும் கர்ணன், தலைசிறந்த வில்லாளன் அருச்சுனன் என்பதை தன்னால் ஏட்கமுடியாது, தன்னுடன் நேருக்கு நேர் போர் புரிய வரும்படியும் அழைப்பு விடுக்கின்றான், ஆனால் அரச குலத்தை சேர்ந்தவருடன் தான் அருச்சுனன் போரிடுவான், நீ தேரோட்டி மகன் இங்கு போரிடமுடியாது என்று குலகுரு சொல்லி மக்கள் முன் பெருத்த அவமானம் பெற வைக்கின்றார், அப்போதுதான் துரியோதனன் அங்கதேசத்தினை கர்ணனுக்கு வழங்கி அவனுக்கு அரசபதவி தாரைவார்த்து, கர்ணனை, அருச்சுனனுடன் போர் புரியும் தகுதியை வழங்குகின்றான்.   

கதையினை இத்தோடு நிறுத்தி வியாக்கியானம் பார்ப்போம்.

கர்ணன் அரங்கத்திட்கு நுழைந்த காரணம் தன் வில்லாற்றலை நிரூபிப்பதாக இருக்கலாம் (கவனிக்க இதுவும் சுயநலமே ஆகும்) ஆனால் அவன் உதவி செய்தது துரியோதனனுக்கு, இங்கு துரியோதனனின் அதர்ம செயல்களை உலகம் அறிந்தது, கர்ணன் ஆரம்பத்தில் இவன் பற்றி அறியாமல் இருக்கலாம், ஆனால் அறிந்த பின்பும் கர்ணன் துரியோதனன் நட்பை தொடர்ந்தது அதர்மமாகும்.

சரி செஞ்சோற்று கடன் என்று சொல்லி இலகுவாக முடித்துவிடலாம், எனினும் அதனையும் சற்று விரிவாக பார்ப்போம்.

துரியோதனன், கர்ணனின் மானம் காத்து அரச பதவி வழங்கி தன் நண்பனாக அணைத்துக் கொண்டான், ஆனால் ஏன் அவ்வாறு செய்தான், இந்தப் புவியில் அர்ச்சுனனின் வில்லாற்றலை எதிர்த்து நின்று போராடக் கூடியவன் கர்ணன் ஒருவனே, இவன் மூலம் விஜயனை வெற்றி கொள்ளலாம் என்று வஞ்சகத் திட்டம் போட்டான், எனவே துரியோதனன், கர்ணனை பிரதியுபகாரம் கருதியே தன்னுடன் சேர்த்துக் கொண்டான் ஆகவே இது தர்மப்படி உதவியாக அமையாது, சரி உதவி என்று வைத்துக்கொண்டாலும், கர்ணன், துரியோதனனை அர்சுனனின் அம்பு கட்டுகளில் இருந்து விடுவித்து அப்பொழுதே கைமாறு செய்து விட்டான்.

இவற்றினைவிட, கர்ணன், துரியோதநாதியரின் அதர்ம செயல்களை தெரிந்து கொண்டே, அவர்களுடன் துணைகொண்டான், எனவே அவர்களின் பாபச் செயல்களில் கர்ணனுக்கும் பங்குண்டு, அதர்ம வழியினை கர்ணனும் பின்பற்றினான், பாவம் செய்தால் தன் மகனென்றும் பாரமால் தண்டனை கொடுத்து வந்த அரச குலத்தவர்கள் மத்தியில், துரியோதனன் தனக்கு அடைக்கலம் (அடைக்கலம் குடுத்தவனும், பெற்றவனும் சுயநல நோக்கோடு நடந்தார்கள் என்பதை கவனிக்க) கொடுத்தான் என்ற ஒரு காரணத்திற்காக அவனுடன் நின்ற செயலை செஞ்ச்சோற்று கடனென்று ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு கர்ணனின் செயல்களுக்கு அர்த்தம் கற்பிக்க இயலாது.  

நிறைவாக என் கருத்து;

வேத தர்மங்களை கற்றுணர்ந்த கர்ணன் இறுதிவரை அருச்சுனன் மீது வஞ்சம்தீர்க்கவே துரியோதனனுடன் நின்றான் என்பதே எனது கருத்து. ஆனால் அவன் சிறந்த வில்லாளி, கொடையாளி, கருணை மிக்கவன் என்பதில் துளியும் ஐயம் கிடையாது.

Investing in the Colombo Stock Exchange – Volume 02

Equity (Stock) Market

There is a popular saying amongst the investor community that, you can’t beat the (Equity) market, true but when?, if it’s well regulated, all the information (Public) are taken by the bourse and reflected in the share prices, no insider trading whatsoever having a say etc, then of course you can’t beat the market. If the market cannot be beaten by regular investors, then either fundamental or technical analysis has least use in picking the stocks they say (who are that they? well they are the Investment gurus). 

In these types of market “Passive Investment” strategy has major role to play, which strategy is buying a set of well diversified (don’t put all your savings into the same bank) share portfolio  and keep it for a long term, return would be in the form of dividend and capital appreciation in 10 or 15 years down the line, some will ask, is it worth the wait for given so much years of locking the fund?, I would say yes it is, because historically, world “Equity” market has seen almost double return than the safe house government bonds yield. I would like to emphasis a point here that, I’m not talking about the Colombo Stock Exchange, above said attributes can be found in the  markets which are operational within the USA, the UK, Germany and few other developed countries. Okay then what are the strategies can be deployed by a smart investor at the Colombo stock market?

At the CSE

Golden period of investing in the Colombo stock bourse have long gone, at least I feel, it’s absurd given that CSE had seen 100% YOY growth consecutively during year 2010 and 2011. CSE had all the reasons to be seen at  lime light and all the hype it had, but certainly not the 100% appreciation in that shorter span, true North & East region opened up, FDI were flowing, private sector credit was  growing, currency was appreciating and all the economic indicators were dimming  green light, but a sustainable growth will happen in longer period, certainly not in short term, if the immense of growth seen in the short span then it’s obviously not sustainable, but merely a credit bubble, it’s not reflecting true picture of  economy nor  stock market of the country. Exactly this what had happened in the CSE too, brokers now say market itself correcting its flaws, and the same mouth said two years back bourse will see further appreciation and this is the time for investment, how many of greedy investors would have burnt their liquid cash By following brokers buy reports?. I’m writing this blog post just after ASPI index had gone below the 6,000 points, which was long time resistant point and whenever it reaches the verge of 6,000 somehow market had seen sudden boosts by some institutional investors, but this time it was not the case and me too wonder why.

Strategies that would work better at the CSE

Passive Investment strategy

Let’s discuss few strategies or methods that would better work in the CSE, I still believe above mentioned “Passive” strategy will do wonders in the Sri Lankan market too, pick some growth stocks, thus normally they don’t pay the dividends year by year, but they do reinvest the profits in new investment avenues and strengthen their market presence, hence this will ensure share price appreciation over the years and the investor could make a reasonable gain by the time he/she exiting from that particular stock, again be mindful about the industry they operate in and the macroeconomic or policies which affect that particular industry and of course the actions of its main competitors, if you wish to earn return you have to be watchful, there are no free lunch for anyone, so intense scrutiny over capital market is a vital trait for a smart investor.

Large Cap strategy

Large Cap stocks strategy, thus these type of stocks have larger market capitalization (Share price * No. of shares outstanding) amongst the market and this would be suitable for risk - averse investors and those who plan equity market for retirement plan, because these genre of stocks have very small share price fluctuations and have larger market liquidity, often considered as large dividend paying stocks and when exiting this too will provide an investor with substantial capital growth in the form of share price appreciation, certainly higher than the real return we get from the bank deposits.

Active Investment strategy

“Active” investment strategy as the name implies, an investor needs to be active in the market, thus they should monitor their particular stocks price movements every day and also have to do some basic research on the sectors, industry their companies operate in, as any adverse micro or macro conditions will have an impact on companies performance, but these will be only reflect in the upcoming quarter reports, if you are a wise investor and you could gauge those information by doing some basic research, then  you can be better off than your fellow investors, either it can be action of hold or sell the stocks.

What strategies that won’t work at the CSE?

Often it is a misconception that,  if you actively buy and sell the shares you will gain a bit at end of the day, yes numbers don’t lie, but did you take into account of transaction costs?, you are unnecessarily feeding the brokerage houses in the form of paying transactions levy, this behavioral investing will not harness you any longer as the bull run at the CSE had long vanished, going behind the penny stocks (stocks have smaller price, often considered  less than Rs 10/=) also one of the form of this type of buying and selling behavior, if you wish your hard earned money to be safer then don’t indulge yourself with these outdated strategies, instead look for above mentioned method, and always ask information/research reports from your broker house but do not solely depend on their buy/sell report, do your own home work, monitor the market day in and day out, familiarize yourself with the prevailing trend at the CSE and once you feel comfortable enough of sailing in the sea which has some dangerous sharks and other creatures, then jump into the bourse without reservations.

Conclusion

There are ample of other strategies/methods can be found by doing few Google searches, but be mindful not all the formulas will work for a particular problem, so winning art is lying on selecting the best method out of a lot. "விஸ்வரூபம்" - பல வழிகளில்

   படம் வெளிவந்து மூன்று கிழமைகள் ஆகிவிட்டது, நூற்றுக்கனக்கான விமர்சனங்களும் வந்துவிட்டது, இருப்பினும் இந்த படம் தொடர்பான எனது பார்வையையும் பதிவுசெய்வதற்காக இந்தப் பதிவு.

முன்னோட்டம்              

                   மதத்திற்கு எதிரான படம், எமது உணர்வுகளை புண்படுத்துகிறார் கமல் என்ற மறை விமர்சனங்களும், ஜெ அரசாங்கத்தின் கமல் மீதான காழ்ப்புணர்ச்சியும், என்னை அவம் பண்ணினால் ஊரைவிட்டே போய் விடுவேன் என்ற கமலின் தன்னிலை விளக்கமும் "விஸ்வரூபம்" படத்திற்கு கிட்டத்தட்ட இந்திய ரூபாய் 50 மில்லியன் அளவு விளம்பரத்தை கொடுத்திருந்தது.

இலங்கையில்!!
                   இலங்கையிலும் கிரிக்கட்டை தமிழில் (கொடுமை) வர்ணனை பண்ணும் பேர்வழிகளின் வால்பிடிப்பினால்  பட ரிலீஸ் திகதி தள்ளிப்போய், தமிழ் நாட்டில் பட ரிலீஸ் ஆனவுடன் திரைக்கு வந்தது, அப்பொழுது மதத்திற்கு எதிரான படம் இப்போது சார்பாகிவிட்டதா என்று கேட்கத் தோன்றுகிறது, தாம் காமடி பீசுகள் என்று தெரியாமல் ஒட்டிகொண்டிருக்கும் இந்த அரசியல் சாணக்கியர்களிடம்.

கதை
                    படத்தில் கமல் பெரிசாக ஒன்றும் சொல்லிவிடவில்லை ஆப்கானில் போய்  படமெடுக்காமல் இந்தியாவிலேயே செட் போட்டு எடுத்தது மட்டும் தான் புதியது தமிழ் ரசிகர்களுக்கு, சர்ச்சைக்குரிய திரைக்கதையை காப்டன் தொடக்கம் இளைய தளபதி வரை வகை தொகையின்றி வலது, இடது, மேலே, கீழே என்று பிரித்து ஏற்கனவே சொன்னபடியால் இத்தனை  ஓசி விளம்பரங்கள் இந்தப் படத்திற்கு கிடைத்தது பட்ஜெட் விமானத்தில் பறக்க விருபியவனை பிசினஸ் கிளாசில் ஏற்றி விட்டது போன்ற செயலுக்கு சமானமானது.

மதம் + வாதம்
            எந்த மதமும் தீவிரவாதத்தை போதிக்கவில்லை, அவ்வாறு போதிக்கிறது என்று சொல்லி தூண்டிவிடுபவர்கள் தான் உண்மையான மத விரோதிகள். ஒரு காட்சியில் போராளியின் மகன் நான் மருத்துவன் ஆகப் போகிறேன் என்பான், அதற்கு அவர் தந்தை இல்லை நீ என்னை போல போராளியகவேண்டுமென்று அந்த பாலகன் எண்ணத்தில் நச்சு விதையை விளைக்கிறான், இதுவல்லவோ மிகப் பெரும் தீவிரவாதம், அந்தச் சிறுவனைப்போல எத்தனை ஆயிரம் சிறார்கள் தம் கனவை காவுகொடுத்துவிட்டு ஆயுதம் ஏந்தி உயிர்களை தானம் செய்கிறார்கள். இந்தப் படத்தை மூர்க்கமாக எதிர்த்தவர்கள் அந்த நடைமுறைச் செய்கையை அல்லவோ முதலில் நிறுத்தியிருக்கவேண்டும் அல்லது முடிவுகட்ட போராடியிருக்கவேண்டும்.

             என்னை பொறுத்த வரையிலும் இந்த படம் ஒரு போராளிச் சமூகத்திலும் சாதாரண மனிதர்கள் போல அன்றாட வாழ்கையுண்டு அவர்கள் உடல்களும் இரத்தமும், சதையினாலும் ஆனது, மத அடையாளங்களை அவர்களது உடல்கள் தழுவியுள்ளதே தவிர அவர்களும் அடிப்படையில் சக மனிதர்கள் தானென்று வெளியுலகதிட்கு காட்டியதில் கமல் வெற்றியடைகிறார்.

கம(லு)ழும் திரைக்கதை      

       மற்றும்படி கமல் இயக்குனராகவும் ஒருபடி உயர்ந்திருக்கிறார், கதைத்தளம் அமெரிக்கா என்ற படியால் ஆங்கில மொழிப்பிரயோகம் தவிர்கமுடியாதுதான், ஆனால் அடுத்தடுத்த படங்களில் கமல் தனது கதையை விட எந்த தரப்பினருக்கு படமெடுக்கிறோம் என்பதை கவனத்தில் கொள்ளவேண்டும்.
ஆப்கான் காட்சிகள் தமிழுக்கு புதியது, பின்னணி இசை கதையின் வேகத்தோடு ஈடு கொடுப்பதாலும், நிறைய முடிச்சுகள் அவிழ்வதாலும், கிளைக்கதைகள் தொடர்புபடுத்தப்படுவதாலும் இரண்டாம் பாதி வேகமாக நகர்கிறது, எனினும் இரண்டாம் பாகதிட்க்கு முன்னோட்டமாக இருக்கட்டும் என்பதாலோ என்னமோ கிளைமாக்ஸ் காட்சி சப்'பென்று முடிந்ததாக தோன்றுகிறது.

          மொத்தத்தில் விஸ்வரூபம் கமலை நடிப்பிலும், இயக்கத்திலும் அதைவிட உணர்ச்சி மேலிட்ட பத்திரிகையாளர்கள் சந்திப்புகளிலும் விஸ்வரூபம் எடுக்கவைத்திருக்கிறது. முன்பாதி ஆச்சரியங்களுடனும், பின்பாதி வேகத்துடனும் எடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் தங்கிலிஷ் படம், இரண்டாம் பாகத்திட்கான எதிர்பார்ப்பை அதிகரித்துவிட்டு ஆர்பாட்டமில்லாமல் முடிந்திருகிறது.

ஆறுமாத இடைவெளியின் பின்னரும், இந்த வருடத்தின் முதல் பதிவிடுவதட்கும் ஏதுவாயிருந்த இந்த படத்திற்கு நன்றி.
